The official line is that Ronald started developing serious symptoms of Alzheimer's only in 1992 just a couple of years before his famous "...the sunset of my life" letter. I personally think this official line was due to a lot of pressure from leading figures in Reagan's party, but that's for another thread.

What if if Reagan is diagnosed in early 1984 and has to resign the presidency?

How does Bush fare against Mondale? Who does Bush choose as his running mate? (it might even be a woman)
