President Biden declines to run for reelection. Vice President Kamala Harris easily wins the Democratic nomination.

Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan wins the Republican nomination in a contested convention.

Who wins, and who are Harris and Hogan's running mates?

A moderate Northeastern Republican, while not having a good chance in a primary would be a force to be reckoned with.

EV's would be 358-180 under 2024 numbers.

Honestly my opinion of Hogan has changed somewhat, he's kind of overrated. Thus Kamala is able to hold MI due to lack of Trumpist WCW turnout, a great feat for her.

On paper Hogan. Not sure how Charismatic he is. Kamala does have some.  Hogan biggest problem he is too moderate to appeal to the GOP base at large.

Vice President Kamala Harris (D-CA) / Secretary of Veterans Affairs Pete Buttigieg (D-IN)
Governor Larry Hogan (R-MD) / Fmr. UN Ambassador Nikki Haley (R-SC) ✓

Hogan is a weak candidate within the party but Harris is a weak candidate nationally. If Hogan follows the 2013 GOP autopsy, I think he can pull off something like this.

I'd give Kamala Georgia and North Carolina in this scenario. I think a lot of religious right voters would stay home.

While Harris is far from a great candidate, she would do better than expected.

Hogan would not excite the base. He is not only moderate, but he is openly critical of Trump (he voted for Reagan in '20). A hug by Christie irked the base, so I can only imagine. Also, if Harris chooses a VP with some heartland/working class connections, she would be favored.
