Obviously the 36th President of the United States.

You know, it's interesting how often we seem to agree with eachother, considering the origins of our usernames. Tongue

True. But Barry Goldwater would almost be a moderate Republican today. I think he even said this in the 1990s that he can't believe to be a moderate these days. I have a feeling Goldwater is often missunderstood, party because the Democrats were too harsh on him. He was conservative, but heavily influenced by libertarian philosophy. While I strongly disagree with his opposition to the Civil Rights Act, he was wrongly painted as a racist, which he clearly wasn't (unlike the Democrats who opposed the act). He just had the belief it's no business of the federal government. And especially towards the end of his life, he became very critical of religious fanatics and evangelicals gaining influence within the Republican Party. He proved to be correct on this.

I'm sure Goldwater would be appalled to see how the Republican Party has become a Trump cult today.
Goldwater would be a Bloomberg Democrat today.

Which is barely, of course, a Democrat at all. But I guess he would have liked stop and frisk.

I think Bloomberg is a bad analogy for Goldwater.  Barry Goldwater was basically a libertarian, whereas Bloomberg supported a lot of nanny state policies (like banning the Big Gulp) as Mayor of New York.

Thomas Nast, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons

Brother Jonathan, a sort of personification of New England that I always felt got short thrift. Wikipedia notes he was often portrayed as a "long-winded New Englander," so there is something of an affinity there too.

the first wife cut my hair too short, the movie Dead Man Walking was in the theaters, when I went into work someone said "dead man walking" because I looked like I was on death row and I look like Sean Penn

(I don't really look like Sean Penn)

Time for me to publish The Penn Years now

Mohamed is my actual name. Sir has no specific meaning, I just like the term.

Back in university, a fellow student falsely thought "Chalid" was my surname. It subsequently became a nickname.

"Cumo" or "cumo" was a username that I used for a few websites in middle and high school. In the early weeks of the pandemic, I used it as a nickname for an online game with some friends in New York who kept thinking my name was "Cuomo." When I decided to create an account on Atlas, I realized I didn't want anyone to misread my name and think I was an Andrew Cuomo stan (especially since I sometimes have a D-NY avatar). So I changed the spelling to "Kuumo" since I had been watching some Finnish detective shows and thought it was cool that Finnish has lots of repeated letter combinations like ''aa", "ii", and "uu" that are not common in most other languages.

First used it on Kongregate after I got banned for being too young. I was 8 at the time.

Weather: I've been interested in weather since I was like, 3.
Boy: I'm a boy. This would've been pretty awkward if I was trans lol
1102: My mom's birthday. (Nov. 2) I personally do not remember at all why I chose her birthday instead of mine, but eleven-oh-two actually rolls off the tongue nicer than ten-oh-two so I guess it worked out.

Obviously, I'm a staunch conservative who pretty much hates anything do to with politics.

Okay, I'll bite. I've taken enough chemistry classes to be very familiar with the periodic table. Why is that your fav element?

The Decemberists' album the Crane Wife is one of my favorites. I've always been intrigued by birds especially exotic birds.

Runaway American Dream is a phrase from the opening line of Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run.

I prefer Badlands myself

Old men want to be rich
Rich men want to be Kings
A king is never satisfied until he rules everything!

Seems rather relevant right now.

Yeah I'm a big fan of Badlands as well

Portmanteau of my two NationStates accounts Jamilkhuze and Syfenq, which are intended to be alternate versions and ideological foils of each other. I kept my NationStates presence alive as a low-key form of climate slacktivism, and wanted my Atlas persona to reflect that.

My parents gave me a Scottish Gaelic middle name (it’s supposed to translate as thunderclap (edgy, I know), but it also translates as ‘hillock’ and was briefly the name of a small settlement on the Isle of Skye).

I never use it in day-to-day life, or in official documents, so it makes a nice online pseudonym.
