All voted D. Summit couties, CO, UT and OH. Is there a correlation with the county name and it's vote trend or just mere coincidence?

In the case of the UT and CO ones, it’s not a coincidence; they’re both ski resort counties.

Yep. Although Summit, OH is different. It's home to Akron - an old industrial town with a large black population and strong union influence.

Where do these names come from?

Summit Counties UT and CO are named after the mountainous terrain that defines their respective landscapes (the Continental Divide actually passes through Summit, CO)

At first, I though Summit OH must be named after someone (Mr. Summit?) but actually, no, it's named such because it's the highest point on the Ohio & Erie Canal (not to be confused with the much more famous Erie Canal)

I wonder if Summit County, Ohio could go R in 2024. Definitely a possibility, given that Mahoning flipped and Eastern Ohio is continuing to trend right fairly quickly.

As a native I doubt it, barring a landslide. Akron's not Youngstown. Both Barberton (old industrial satellite) and Hudson (wealthy suburb) flipped from Trump to Biden.
