What a weird thread.

Bloomberg was a lifelong Democrat before running for mayor in 2001. His politics have always seem to have been mostly liberal. His brief stint as a fake Republican from 2001-2007 was mainly just to avoid the Democratic primary since there's no way he would've beaten the extremely popular Mark Green.

If Mark Green hadn't run for mayor, Bloomberg would've probably ran as a Democrat.

IIRC, in his autobiography, Bloomberg mentions being a big fan of LBJ in college. He also mentions that his parents were staunch Democrats and that they attended rallies for Stevenson when Bloomberg was a kid.

In the 1960's, Bloomberg was staunch supporter of Civil Rights (he even donated much of the little money he made as a parking lot attendant to the NAACP), but unlike most kids his age, he also supported the Vietnam War (he even applied to serve in the military but was rejected due to flat feet). He mentions these in his autobiography.

If you look at Bloomberg's donor history, he donated entirely to Democrats before 2002, entirely to Republicans in 2002, 2004, and 2006, around the same amount to Democrats and Republicans in 2008 and 2010 (moderately more to Democrats than to Republicans), and almost entirely to Democrats since 2012.

One of the first political donations he has ever made was to Carter in 1976. He was one of the largest donors to the Democratic Party in the 1990's.

Also, remember that Bloomberg is Jewish, so it is highly unlikely that he would vote for any Republican.
