Trump is so concerned about campaigns but refuses to address the Pandemic shows how petty he is

He will never be a candidate again

He has two major issues to worry about over the next four years--his legal situation and his health.  Neither are good.

It might actually be her in 2024 who's facing him in a GE.

And she might lose.

Like Hillary.

The social consequences of the pandemic will be long-lasting and impact the US society a lot.

If Biden/Harris don't get their act together in the next 4 years and somehow repair the damage and connect with the American working class, there's a real chance that a resurgent Trump could beat either Biden or Harris and not even by a small margin (EC-wise).

We all should be terrified of that.  And not just of him, but his children too.  And anyone else crazy.

2016 should be a lessen to us all not to take elections for granted, and that insane people with authoritarian complexes can win.  Too much has been sacrificed these last four years for any of us to ever laugh at the notion of a wannabe-dictator and laughably crazy individual becoming president again.

One easy way to fix that is to get rid of the primary system and let the party elites chose the candidate. As it is done in almost every major democracy.

It痴 not impossible.  As we have seen, the American electorate can be extremely dumb.  Not only in 2016, but look at the terrifyingly high percentage the crybaby-in-chief got this time.  There is something messed-up going on in the American public that Trump speaks to.

Inb4 this thread is bumped in November 2024 after Trump wins back the presidency against Harris herself.

I'd much rather see us get rid of the handicapping electoral college.  That's basically what is hindering us now.  That's what caused us to lose the Supreme Court for a generation or more...voters overwhelmingly voting against having a conservative Supreme Court in both 2016 and 2020, yet here we are.  The electoral college allows the loser to win by a technicality; and it was fashioned with racist foundations...it's way past time for it to go and that's what Dems should focus ALL of their energy on at this point.

Yeah, we have pretty much gotten to the point that there are no policy issues other than democracy that matter. You cannot have substantive democratic debate about what policy should be without first having democracy.

The Senate races in 2024/ won't hinder us in the EC, it will solidify what Ds won now, and Rs haven't cracked the EC wall since HRC, they failed in 2018,2020, and will fail again I'm 2022/2024

Sure it is. The US is the exception rather than the rule when it comes to the selection of presidential nominees. Usually, this choice is made by party delegates, which is not less democratic but rather provides you with an important pre-selection mechanism.

Yeah, I'm worried that he may run again too. He would clear the primary field (save for a Sisyphean candidate like Larry Hogan running against him) and be back to having outsider appeal, which was more successful for him. Even if Biden and Harris do clean up the mess he left them the average American voter rarely rewards Democrats with re-election after they clean up the Republican disasters that are always inherited. Republicans get elected President when the country is in good shape because our country has cyclical, collective amnesia or something and Trump for whatever confounding reason speaks to way too many people! Don't count him out, and pray that he prefers playing the kingmaker role instead...or ends up in prison.

A more conventional Republican would be easier to beat. I am going to stand by that for the next four years.

Donald who?

The longer that Trump is away from the White House the less credibility he will have. His screeds are too vile for network television. People will steadily, and increasingly, recognize what a rotten person he was and what a poor president he is/was.

We all laughed back in 2016. Don't you ever treat him like a joke again. And we already have historical precedence for this; Grover Cleveland of course had two non-consecutive terms.

I don't think Trump will run, but I think either Eric or Don Jr. may, both of which just as bad as their father.

Harris can laugh due to Trump is in legal jeopardy not her and she will determine if Trump and Don Jr should be Federally criminalized that Barr refused to do, since Don Jr was right there in Trump Towers with Putin in Wikileaks and Hillary dirt
Tax evasion is a done deal with state prosecution of Trump, no pardon can take that away
