Has there been any proven results of this working successfully in RL? Section 2, Clause 4 causes concern for me - we are basically admitting that this might cause equipment malfunction, so what happens in that case? The vast majority of ballots in the US are either electronic or scanned and I expect the number to only increase in the future. Is the vote just not counted? I'd rather err on the side of caution to ensure that every person's vote is counted.

You go just go all Butlerian Jihad and just have them counted manually, rather than putting faith in machines.

This is seriously a good point, election machines are nothing but trouble, sticker or not. Should we just ban election machines?
I worry that this would greatly slow down reporting times.

I'd rather an accurate count than a fast one.
There is no strong evidence to show that machine voting is far more inaccurate than paper ballots. My point is I’m not going to give up machine voting just so people can put a write in sticker on a ballot, which I thought is what was being suggested. More people voted via machine than ever before in the last RL election and it was the most secure in history.

This has been sitting idle for 7 days, I'm calling for a final vote.

Is it possible to pass a version of this bill that sidesteps any issues involving the idea of banning election machines?
At this point the best option would be for you to send back a redraft

What do you think such a redraft would look like?
I'm not sure, I don't really support the principle of the bill in any form. Probably just another clause stating that precincts using electronic machines may not outlaw them as a result of this bill? That would still be open to loopholes but I'm not really sure how to prevent that.
