Deal with it, race relations are the worse it has been since 1965.

What are your solutions to race relations, and no white guilt solutions, what are your solutions?

I think people choosing freedom of association would be good. If you don't want to mix with other races, there is nothing wrong with that.

If you oppose interracial marriage, there is nothing wrong with that. You do you.

I also think the United States government should give reparations to American Descendants of Slavery, get it over with, I am tired of hearing the whining and the complaining, give ADOS members $10 million a piece to invest in Black communities and move on with it

There needs to be solutions at this problem or else you will get more Trumps (Tom Cotton, Josh Hawley, Alexis Weik)

The floor is yours.

Mandatory interracial marriage would end racism within a few generations.

How so? Not only would a white family probably oppose, but a black family or a Latino family would too.

People are tribal to the core, you think a South Asian family would approve of their daughter marrying a Latino man?

Also, it is crazy that since Loving v. Virginia in 1967, the conservative Clarence Thomas gets abuse online and in public because after his bitter confirmation he married a white woman----that abuse comes from left-leaning people, not right-leaning people, by the way

That’s a terrible idea.

White supremacists would argue this is an attack on white people, to force their kids to become blacker.

Black activists would say this is racist because it’s forcing the “whitening” of the population considering the majority of US Americans are white, which would result in a mostly light-skinned population in the end of the process, erasing blackness.

Freedom activists would say it’s authoritarian to force marriage between specific groups.

Racism would still exist even in more racially homogeneous society, it would just adapt itself to the new reality. That’s because racism is a social division, not necessarily simply a racial one. White European groups like Italians used to be considered non-white in the US, just like other ethnic groups still are for example, regardless of their skin color.

In that new scenario, racism would adapt itself in order for some sectors still claim privileges over others. The US “one drop” rule would be over but there would still exist people who would be lighter skinned than others and those would be the “new white” even in a more homogeneous society.

Differences aren’t to be eliminated, they should be celebrated. Which is why that’s a bad idea. What needs to happen is for people to eliminate and actually punish racism appropriately.

Weik is the Senator-elect from NY's 3 SD district, she represents parts of Brentwood, NY, on Suffolk County, where MS-13 have been around for a while.

Weik is the wife and mother of police officers, so law and order is the number one priority for her. She could be on a GOP ticket one day.....

Indeed, interracial marriage is one of history's best mechanisms for ethnic cleansing and genocide

There are many historical examples of invading armies or colonizers killing off most of the men of a conquered tribe/ethnic group and then bonding the remaining women and children into slavery, servitude and/or marriage.  Over several generations, this can result in a native population being effectively "bred" out of existence by an invading one.

To be honest, it's almost statistically inevitable that within a few centuries (?), everyone will be mixed-race enough that racism is essentially impossible.

Much of Latin America has been in this situation for centuries already and yet there's still racism there. Hate, like love, finds a way.

Here after slavery was abolished in 1988, during the beginning of the new 20th century, official government policy was to facilitate immigration in order to promote the “whitening” of the population. Idea was that as more immigrants arrived, people of African descent that were brought to this land during colonial years would mate with lighter skinned people and gradually as generations passed, society would become whiter.

But the facilitation of immigration in the end had also another effect of diversifying the genetics poll even more, not only Europeans arrived, also East Asians (especially Japanese, lots of them) and people of Middle East origin also came in big numbers.

Only later, around the 1920s or 30s, that the policy became treating racial diversity as an intrinsic part of the Brazilian identity. But the old idea of promoting interracial relationships is regarded these days as a racist policy. There’s a famous but very disturbing painting here from these times, portraying this type of racial policy:

Painted in 1895 (only 7 years after slavery was abolished) by a Spanish radicalized in Brazil, it’s called “Ham’s redemption”. You see the different generations, the white baby with his white dad and brown mom. The white man is portrayed in a position of superiority, while the baby’s black grandma seems to thank God for the blessing of having a white grandson. It is implied that she had also married a white man, had a mixed daughter who followed the same steps in order to erase blackness, which is treated like a curse in the painting.

Name of the painting comes from Christian religion. Ham was one of the sons of Noah, who after exposing his father sins, was condemned to be the “last of slaves”. According to the Bible, Ham is supposedly pointed to be an ascendant of the African races, this was actually used by Christians to justify slavery. The painting name points to the ideas of those immediate post-slavery time, in which a solution to “save” black people is presented: interracial relations with whites. That was a real government policy that in retrospect is looked with very bad eyes.

How can you end racism then? I am sick of it.

More laws, more mixing of the races, a strengthening of the civil rights laws?

Perhaps if we had more knowledge of the laws, rather than having more laws, we could do more to wipe out people's attitudes. If we had more education about the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment, and how the SCOTUS has interpreted it, and the other civil rights laws, perhaps that would teach more people the moral lesson about how racism is unacceptable.
