Disillusioned base?

People who only followed him because he was the president tuning him out?

Russian bot accounts being deleted?

There probably were a fair number of people who were following him only because he was relevant and think he no longer is.  His relevancy is fading, but it I were on Twitter and following him because of relevancy, I personally would wait until January 20 to stop following him. For that matter, if I were a political reporter, I'd continue to follow him after then.

There's also the fact that if you were following his rants for entertainment value alone, they've become so predictable and disconnected from reality to no longer have any entertainment value. They aren't even worth laughing at anymore.

As of a week ago, 22% of Trump's followers, i.e. 19.2 million of them, are bots.

Now that Trump is about to lose almost of all of his relevance, and therefore usefulness for the cause, the bots are no doubt self-destructing in droves.
