Quote
A newly elected Colorado Republican on Monday requested that Capitol Police allow her to carry her gun in the Capitol, The Associated Press reported.

After she is sworn in in January, Rep.-elect Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) could join an unknown number of lawmakers who also carry firearms in the Capitol, which is permitted under congressional regulations.

In 2010, Boebert's neighbors accused her of harassing them after they called police because Boebert's pit bulls were threatening the life of their dogs. Boebert was issued a ticket for dog code violations. She was not charged with harassment. In 2015, she was cited for disorderly conduct at a music festival. As she was being handcuffed, according to deputies’ reports, Boebert tried to twist away from police, telling them that her arrest was unconstitutional, that "she had friends at Fox News," and "that the arrest would be national news.” Boebert twice failed to appear in court on the charge. It was dismissed because the prosecutor believed a jury would not convict her. In 2016, she was cited for operating an unsafe vehicle, a minor traffic charge, to which she pleaded guilty.

Good lord. The Karen from Hell.

Oh and she's originally from Florida. Well that explains a lot.

Quote
Boebert credits her first job at 15 years old, at a McDonald's restaurant, for changing her views about whether it was necessary to receive government assistance.

I read this headline as Lorena Bobbitt wants to...

I was like "who's still messing with her, didn't she make her point?"

Sometimes fast reading is bad.

I cannot say I blame her.  Republicans have admitted to endorsing domestic terrorists and there are a lot of Republicans in Congress.

If you can put me in a "first amendment zone," then we can put you in a "second amendment zone."

I would generally say I'm pro-gun but I can't say I understand a lot of these people's desire to carry a gun everywhere they go like they're in a cowboy movie.

She won by six points, fwiw. Still hope that in a good wave year this nutbag can go down.

No, CO-3 is rural and Grand Junction probably screwed us there.
The reason Colorado went so hard for Biden is because of CO-6, CO-5, and CO-7 in that order. (Although the winners of each didn’t flip in any district)

Not that I particularly understand a Congressperson's desire to carry a gun in the capitol, but it's not like she's the only Congressperson to choose to carry in the capitol. I don't really understand why this is newsworthy.

I don't understand why this is newsworthy either. Law-abiding gunowners should be allowed to carry, so long as they are adhering to legal processes-and Boebert is doing so here by seeking the approval of the Capitol Police. Moreover, other lawmakers have carried, and currently do carry.

Ditto. This is fairly strange. I'm less inclined to believe she actually cares about carrying so much as maintaining her gimmick.

She wants to carry a gun in the capitol, but no mask. This is the Republican party for you.

Nah I think she's a true believer. She certainly seems crazy enough.

Well, to be fair-and I can't believe I'm actually defending Boebert twice in this thread-she is wearing a mask in the picture displayed in the opening post, and I remember seeing an article about two months ago or so, with a picture of her at her restaurant, wearing a mask and adhering to state guidelines regarding social distancing.

"Why do I need to wear a mask? The Wuhan Flu has a 99.5% survival rate!"

"I have to carry a gun everywhere! Someone could try to kill me!"

But perhaps it’s not entirely inaccurate. She seems just as crazy.
