Really interesting to see how Biden did fine in most of FL, but collapsed big time in the Miami Dade.

Fine ? It's a bit exagerated to say he did fine, he did well in the urban areas of Northern Florida but that's all.

This. Disband the FDP, have the national party take over for the time being, rebuild a new state party over the next few years. It is probably the worst state party in the country, I have never seen so many winnable races get flushed down the drain in a row.

The problem is, isn't it still the same pool of people who are interesting in working in politics they'd have to draw from? Or are you proposing shipping in out of state people?

On average he got shifts of about 2% towards him in non-Southern Florida. Hillary only lost FL by 1.2%, so had those swings be present throughout the state, Biden would've won FL.

They definitely need fresh faces. Someone like Stacy Abrams could come in and revitalize the party, but she has more interest in running for governor, unfortunately.

No wonder Democrats didn't put up a challenger to Diaz-Balart.

Not sure about that, Biden ran behind Clinton in Orlando + Tampa areas.

According to my calculations, if you take congressional districts 20-27 out of the equation, northern FL shifted on average 1.37% towards Biden.

If Biden matched Nelson's south Florida performance, Biden would have won Florida

Well, 1.37 is closer to 1 than 2 Smiley

Anyway Biden did 2.4 points better than Clinton nationwide so the rest of FL has trended against him

Yeah sorry, my estimation skills are bad sometimes, but yeah, FL overall trended right pretty much any way you slice it.

I don't mean she should run for office in Florida, but she would make a great state party chair.

More broadly, people who say stuff like "abolish the FDP" — what would you do differently? Where do you think things are going wrong? If you get new people in charge, what do you actually want them to do?

Carpetbagging doesn't really have a huge stigma here when only a third of the residents were actually born in the state. But Sjoyce's question is the relevant one: what do you do differently? Florida isn't really one state. At minimum its at least three, all of which are very different from each other and all of which don't particularly like each other. Which areas or groups do you focus on? Who do you neglect? "Do everything and appeal to everyone" is not viable.

Biden tanked in Hispanic areas of Hillsborough and Orlando, too. This was not just a Miami issue.

What was it? The incumbency factor? The $1200 checks? The "socialist" angle? Trump had nothing to provide these people.
