He would do well with a certain type of liberal-populist boomer, and that's about it. I'd actually like to see him run and spice things up, but he couldn't win over the democratic base and especially not the party establishment.

LOL. I've said before that Jon Stewart might have (had) a chance in politics. But Maher? Never. Not only is he perhaps most famous for openly mocking religion, he also is the caricature of the coastal liberal elitist douchebag.

The ONLY way I can MAYBE see him making any in-roads whatsoever is if he appeals to the potheads AND the people who are liberal but hawkish about Islam and hate "wokeness." Strange coalition, perhaps most similar to... Tulsi's or something? I don't know. Maher is kinda the dirtbag left, he's not really a full-blown "progressive" like Bernie or anything, more cynical than that, but he's hardly "establishment" either. His somewhat eclectic mix of views and background plus that "tells it like it is" style WOULD be kinda like liberal Trump, but I just don't see it flying as well for a Democrat, not in the primaries and certainly not in the general.

You might be right that "liberal-populist boomer" would sum up his base.

No. Anyone who likes him currently will stop liking him once they find out all of his positions.

Maher wouldn't be served well by a presidential campaign. He's in his element as a host of a TV show and using that as a pulpit of sorts to be a commentator on contemporary events, not as someone actually campaigning for high office.

He's very much the type of person who would have had two terms as a LA area congressman in the mid 2000s & then given up

All of the points he's made about "wokeness" and other asinine SJW positions of the left are absolutely correct. That said, he's just too much of a douche to win a national election, so no.

I hate how many liberals hate Bill Maher because he’s “too mean” to Republicans. Republicans deserve much more scrutiny than even Bill Maher gives them

No no no no no absolutely not.

I will literally vote Republican/third party if that jackass were somehow to be the nominee. After the last four years it should be blindingly obvious how dangerous it is to have a celebrity president with no prior experience in elective office.
