"At least one" credible Republican is considering jumping in to stop Parnell.

Toomey must have some second thoughts about retiring. It's admirable if his term limit pledge is the reason he's retiring, so maybe he actually doesn't want to renege on that. But it also seems like he's just fed up after 4 years of Trump BS. Either way, he must know his path to reelection is clear if he changes his mind.

Toomey could win a divided primary although he might walk away with only 30-35% of the vote

The GOP have been very lucky in either having sitting senators or popular statewide figures run in close races in the last three cycles.

That seems to be changing.

My money is on Costello, he wanted to run, and he seems like the exact opposite of Parnell.

The article does say "credible", which disqualifies Costello.

Costello is a bit of a joke who would never get through a primary because of his anti-Trump views. He's not a credible candidate for the PA GOP.

Honestly, at this point I don't think Toomey would be a shoo-in to win the primary either.

I really don't understand why some users on here keep insisting that Parnell is a good candidate.

Certain users think Trump endorsing someone would all but ensure that candidate's victory in both the primary and the general (and these users should look at Luther Strange, among other examples).

I'm thinking someone like Smucker or Meuser who hasn't worked to antagonize Trump.

Isn't Meuser getting drawn out anyway? He might as well run for Senate then.

St is likely D with Fetterman the only chance that Rs have is if Kenyatta got the Nomination he is a Socialist not Lamb or Fetterman, but I would endorse him if he got it because he is a male like Obama not a female like Beasly or Demings

Its kind of like in 2010 when a bunch of b and c tier candidates were running against Blanche Lincoln then with the healthcare mess, her numbers tanked and suddenly they were leading her, then Boozman jumped in.

Of course since Trump already picked, they run the risk of instantly get "not Trump friendzoned" if they jump in now.

"This won't change the fact that he is going to be the next Senator from Pennsylvania."

Don’t you see? Obviously his wife is a paid political actor who went undercover marrying him to throw dirt in him!

I really hope that people here don't dismiss this as "Who Cares?" and "Nothingburger". There are a lot of things that can be overlooked, but domestic abuse is not one of them.

I think it's absolutely disqualifying, but I doubt enough Pennsylvania voters feel the same way.

Domestic abuse disqualifies Parnell from public office. But as of right now we don’t know whether or not the allegations are true yet.

They said the same about Trump. In a red wave year, Parnell can absolutely beat Fetterman, probably by 3-5 points.
