Doug Mastriano is a fascist, he is no Daddy, the real Daddy here is Ryan Costello who took a stand against fascism and voted against the Orange Demagogue, however given he will still vote for Mitch as Majority Leader and thus obstruct Biden's last two years of his first term, I have no choice but to support the Democratic nominee, but let me say that Costello would be among the best Republican senators, if he did win, and if he were in a safe red state like Nebraska, I'd be actively cheering him on in this race.

While he would make the race harder to win, for the sake of this nation's sanity, I hope the GOP starts nominating more people like him, I'm not willing to make fascism the opposition, just because it's easier to win against fascists. Then, there is the risk of those fascists actually winning.

Yeah Doug Mastriano is a fascist who should be in prison tbh.

If, god forbid, he runs and gets the nomination, the race will immediately shift from a Tossup to Likely D. He is as weak as Roy Moore (minus the pedophilia), but in a much less red state.

Nothing surprises me anymore but I hope you’re right. Could be shades of Scott Wagner in 2018 but with an even more extreme candidate.

Fetterman and Shapiro are going to be an amazing duo on the trail in 2022. They both have strengths that help the other out and I think both will benefit from being on the same ticket.

From what I understand, Fetterman's one of the strongest possible candidates, if not the strongest, for the Democrats. Hopefully he doesn't face Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick will not win. He is far too liberal to win a Republican Primary. Also, Democrats could pick up his house seat.

Not bad, but he should spend it on a ground game rather than ads. The same goes for Democratic Senate candidates and incumbents in other states, too.

Although I would prefer Fitzpatrick

I hope Doug Mastriano runs for either and then loses horribly in the general, can't stand hearing about him daily anymore.  Seriously the worst state legislature in my local area I've ever had the misfortune of having to hear about.

Yes, it’s pretty much a given that any D nominee here will vastly outspend whoever the Republicans put up, but we’ve also seen that there are obvious limits as to how far that can get you, especially in what is likely to be a more unfavorable environment for Democrats than 2020. Costello’s not going to win the primary, nor do we need a 'centrist' Republican to hold this seat if the messaging + rhetoric are right/the campaign is conducted competently. Toss-up with any Democrat, but Tilt R for now.

I fail to see how its not a tossup, too many unknowns about 2022 and the state GOP has a history of f-ing up by nominating insane people in winnable races or managing to blow things horribly in otherwise good GOP years

He literally said it's a toss-up.

Quote
Toss-up with any Democrat

"Tilt R" means the GOP has a very slight advantage, but still a toss-up.

Obviously not sure how much is going on behind the scenes (or went on) but it's interesting to see if this freezes the field quickly; you'd expect this to be a seat a lot of democrats want...

I think it's possible state Republicans make a push to force Toomey back in later this year. He would have the best shot at winning. Not sure how much his soft Trump criticism would still be factor.
