The president-elect said what needed to be said.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Embarrassing, pathetic and unpatriotic, to put it mildly. All of them should be ashamed.

Trump needs to concede and get ready to step down peacefully in January. Biden will have to be a truly remarkable president to avoid civil war I fear as any more division will rip this country to pieces but the first step towards avoiding that future is for Trump to respect the peaceful transfer of power. That is what is important.

I gotta say, it's nice to see a president(-elect) give a press conference and it not be insane and unhinged.

Biden is ahead by nearly 50,000 votes in PA; 15,000+ votes in Arizona and 35,000 in Nevada. Moreover, he is ahead by nearly 5 million votes nationwide.

What the GOP is arguing is that every election should now end in litigation no matter how close it is. What is their strategy? Just to allow Trump's fragile ego to save face that he lost?

What's embarrassing is Biden's Mass Black Incarceration Bill and his vote to invade Iraq. Good for him Americans have a short memory. Would be impossible in the rest of Western World.

No. Quite literally to delegitimize Biden's Administration from day one, at least among their base. Biden's appeal is calling Americans to come together. And if the 47% of the country backing Trump, or at least 95 + percent of them, just dig their heels in and keep screaming no no no no no like a toddler being dragged out of a Chuck-E-Cheese, inevitably that's going to reflect bad on Biden because " things are just as divisive as they were under Trump".

Besides, God forbid that he actually gets enough bipartisan popular support to pass even one iota of some of his overwhelmingly popular agenda like a $15 an hour minimum wage, a public option, etc etc.

It is absolutely in Republicans political interest to Fan the Flames of disunity from today straight through November 2024. And you can bet your bottom dollar they will aggressively do so Non-Stop

At this point it is more embarassing watching a massive chunk of the GOP try to coddle a 74 year old toddler having a pity party over a legitmatelly lost election.

I initially thought Trump would whine few days and then concede but this looks like it's gonna get dragged on for a lot of time. I am extremely disappointed to see even all the GOP leaders not speaking up and acting along whatever Trump says.

Remember when people gave Clinton sh*t for not coming out and giving her concession speech the night of the election? Good times.

It's not a very good joke.  In America, "we" do not lynch negroes -- a small, angry segment of the population does, to the shock and horror of the rest.  Lynching was made illegal in the United States and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  Such is the power of democracy.

This is in contrast to the Soviet Union, whose crimes were sponsored by the state and in fact were crucial to the government's strategy of using torture, murder, starvation and terror to keep the people in line.  In Russia, which is an autocracy, no progress can possibly be made without violent revolt or strikes by the subjugated people.  The United States does not commit atrocious crimes against its own citizens, and if it ever did then the people would have the right to say "we want this to stop."  The many atrocities of the Soviet Union occurred with no repercussions, and for the most part the people weren't even aware of them because the state, in its guilt and shame, covered up its crimes and lied to the people about them.  This would never happen in America.  Our free press operates with near-impunity to shine a light into ever nook and cranny.

Yet Republicans think that Biden is the one who should concede and that he's senile for not doing so.

And she actually called him to concede that night! No speech, yeah, but there was a concession. It took longer than that for Kerry to call and concede!

This is what I liked about what Biden said and how he said it.

He stopped TO THINK about what he was going to say. And he tried to be as tactful as possible.

These are not the actions of a senile old man. They are the actions of one who knows how to unite. And lead by example.

I like that in a President.

The joke is about (that is against) Soviet/Russia's whatabotism. People ridicule whataboutism propaganda by telling it sarcastically  Wink

Ah, didn't realize it was supposed to be self-deprecating.  Maybe the Russian people should tell their elected leaders to stop making whataboutism propaganda... they are a democracy after all!
