I would like to thank everyone for behaving themselves tonight. Toxicity was...mostly lacking, which is remarkable. And we had a huge amount of fun doing what we like to do best.

As a relative newbie to the forum, I will say for my first time being actively involved in observing the outcomes of an election here, I certainly had a lot of fun doing so and am looking forwards to doing this against for the '22 midterms!

around 200k votes still left to count

I'd say that looks like the odds are indeed tough but not impossible for McAuliffe.

I don't see that "uncertainty", T-mac is not going to win Chesterfield and early/mail voting is not going to save him

So he needs to win like 75% of mail ballots, which is about what Biden was winning them in 2020. That's why it's not called.

I think it's because they just began to realize the rest of the votes outstanding are absentees.

No. That drop was Chesterfield, I've been checking, it was at 67000 votes a minute ago

He doesn't need to concede before the race is even called.

It's likely that they realized the remaining votes out in Chesterfield are absentees.

Rurals were maxed-out.  Youngkin’s only shot at winning always ran through the suburbs, and it looks like he did it.

On the bright side, Democrats will more than likely be picking fresh faces in 2025 instead of has-beens like Terry McAuliffe or Mark Herring.  At least I certainly will.

T-Mac is under no obligation to concede before all the votes are counted.
The suggestion that he do would be tacit disenfranchisement of those who voted absentee.

There's 180k absentees/mail-ins potentially in play. Youngkin has a 90k lead.
