What is turnout in the Hampton Roads area looking like?

Norfolk is boring. I just voted an hour ago and turnout is about what I expected. Not that Norfolk is a bellwether in any sense.

Norfolk needs to at least be on par with 2017 for T-Mac though.

Why is anyone giving Ben Tribbett any credibility at all? He lost it all on Election Day in 2017. When he was saying things alluding to all signs pointing to Gillespie.

I remember he was like "After I stopped tweeting about turnout is when Northam did the best!" Right bro

ANYWAY - it's also quite possible that if Dem areas DO have high turnout, it was a classic case of bed-wetting Dems thinking they had it in the bag or ones that didn't really care about the race until they saw Youngkin taking the lead in polls and realizing this sh**t could actually happen.

I think it's pretty clear that this is exactly what happened with the CA recall.

I believe there are 775,000 registered voters in Fairfax (last time I checked and if I remember correctly).  That would mean we just surpassed 310,000 votes in Fairfax.

There were about 375,000 in 2017 so we are definitely on pace to heavily surpass that.

I think Glenn Youngkin is probably going to win, McAuliffe has run a sh**tty campaign. Also, Chris Hurst is probably going to lose in HD-12.

And yet Atlas doomers learned nothing from the CA result... that just happened.

I'm not sure this bit of trivia has been mentioned, but this is the first time that a baseball World Series game will be held on Election Day.

LOL. How many many times we heard that "democracy will be over" if Democrats don't get their way?

It's over the top and not true but we don't hear it nearly as much as we hear how "X election was stolen"

Fairfax is FINALLY picking up the pace.  Very good news.

Only 11 points behind 2017 with 6 hours still left to go.

Is there any reason why polls close so early in VA? 7PM doesn't leave much time for the after-work crowd.

Don't forget there's like (I forget exactly so I'll estimate) 50,000 additional registered voters in Fairfax since then.  So even if they just keep pace that's more net Dem votes.  But it is definitely looking like Fairfax is going to have stronger turnout than 2017 in absolute and percent terms.  Unless there's an implosion tonight.

Used to be a very restrictive state (no early voting either) and they haven't changed that aspect.  It wont impact people as much this year though because so many (especially in NOVA) are working from home.

The polls close way too early in most of America. We should be a lot more like the UK where the polls close at 10 PM.

It really is not healthy to be reading this thread (or any e-day thread) before polls close. We should have learned our lesson last year.

I guess Davison is inevitable in Seattle as well, since it's supposed to rain this afternoon.
