It seems that while Trump gained at least some ground with most minority groups, one glaring exception was Native Americans, which trended sharply in the opposite direction. In fact, it's looking like it may even be the case that the Native vote was decisive for Biden in Arizona and Wisconsin.

Is it merely a case of higher turnout than in 2016? But regardless, why were Natives seemingly specifically immune to the trends we saw among Latino and Black men at least towards Trump? Did Trump do something to especially piss them off?

He made an absolute mockery out of the interior dept and actively trucked them over about covid repeatedly. Aside from Robeson and a few other places, he got swung against pretty hard by them.

Native Americans really didnt like Clinton so Biden was an improvement. Also more aggressive climate plans and Trump had an impact

I think Native American turnout was depressed in 2016 because many of them thought Hillary didn't take a strong enough stand against the Keystone XL pipeline. The 2020 election was just a reversion to normal Democratic levels of support among Native Americans.

Even 2018, Heitkamp did better with Natives in 2018 than 2012, same with Tester.

Apparently there is still 7% of the vote left to count in Thurston County, Nebraska, a Kerry-Obama-Trump county. There's a large Native American population there so I'm wondering if Biden will carry it once the vote is counted.

If I'm correct there was much better outreach to Native Americans by the Biden campaign than previous previous presidential campaigns.

The bigger question is why they swung so hard against Hillary in 2016.

IIRC they found her Keystone approach unsatisfactory
