RIP, I’m amazed he made it this long. Was really starting to think he might pull through.

My father told me about his death about five minutes ago, having heard it on the radio. This is very sad news, but hardly surprising, given that he's been battling pancreatic cancer for more than a year now. 2020 has claimed so many well-known people.

I don't think that is the case here. Of course, people die every year, and every year claims its share of prominent celebrities and public figures. But deaths just seem to be more poignant this year, given the ongoing pandemic.

RIP. There have been many iconic game show hosts, but his personality and appetite for knowledge was unique and made Jeopardy such a beloved institution.

Three different family members called or texted me about this within a few minutes of each other.  I've been a fan of Jeopardy! since I was a kid (the original Art Fleming version that ran from 1964-74) and still watch it religiously.  I've also taken the online test several times and auditioned in person four times in various cities, but sadly have never gotten the call.

There have been rumors that Ken Jennings is Alex's likely successor, and I think he'd be a worthwhile one.

Sadly this was a foregone conclusion for awhile. I must say, he gave cancer one hell of a fight too. It doesn't make it any less upsetting though to lose another icon. I have to say, aside from COVID-19, cancer has really been ravaging the world this year too. How many notable public figures that died this year have succumbed to their cancer? It seems like every other one or so.

The family is asking that mourners voice their condolences in the form of a question.

His last episode will be on Christmas Day. By then we'll probably know who is replacing him.
I have heard of possible replacements, all men. Is it possible that his replacement will be a woman?

A few years ago there were some rumors that Brooke Burns was being considered, but haven't heard that recently.

Surprisingly tasteful for funeral comedy.
