Maybe last week's results made him feel less pressure? Beforehand he might have felt obligated to run as if he was the only person with a chance of winning. Now it seems more probable that someone else could win the race, though obviously not as easily as he could have. Though he probably should have handled the situation better.

Good for him, I’d want to stay out of Washington as well.

Also good for him for helping Dems keep the Senate Smiley
Only in your mind.

Democrats are struggling in New Jersey and Virginia and you believe they are capable of keeping the senate?

Lmao I didn’t say they’re gonna keep the Senate, I said this HELPS them toward that goal.

You Republicans have been insufferable since those elections last week.

Can you imagine if SirWoodbury clones were like... 80% of the forum. That'd be just so insufferable.

Obviously very good news for Maggie.
Her approvals are still in the gutter after helping kill the $15/hour minimum wage though it's gonna be very hard to turn progressives out for her unless the reps nominate a complete Trumper. I honestly think Ayotte would beat Maggie tbh. Right now id have to keep the race a tossup but tilt it to the D's.

Wow. Totally STUNNED. The Senate is still likely Republican but this is… crazy. Maybe Governor is all he ever wants to be (as hard as that is to believe for most astute political followers). The next POTUS race is 2028, the next NH Senate seat is 2026…

This goes from Likely R to Tilt D….

With Sununu and Ayotte out, I think it's likely that Trump endorses Don Bolduc, and Bolduc wins the primary rather easily. Just my opinion, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Maggie Hassan is having a good day.

Good. She'd be an awful candidate. There's a reason she lost and didn't even outperform Trump. She's one of those outdated Nikki Haley types.

Have to imagine that NHGOP internal polling must not look as good as conventional wisdom suggests if both Sununu and Ayotte are passing on this race.

Either that, or neither of them wants to risk being the 51st GOP vote and having to run for reelection in a Presidential year.

Not a solid confirmation she won't run. Sources close to Sununu (including his own staffers) were heavily hinting he'd be running for this Seat for years.

Unbeatable Titan checks notes Maggie Hassan?

In all seriousness, this is the best case scenario for the Democrats.

Republicans could probably do worse than Bolduc, their current frontrunner. Corey Lewandowski comes to mind.

He apparently thinks he has a better chance of being president if he remains governor

I think NH still somehow goes R if Biden continues to be this unpopular but things are objectively getting better so we will see.

Republicans right now

And to pretend like this doesn't matter is nothing short of delusional. Your top recruit declining to run is always a negative thing.
