Why was it so close this year? Especially for an Eastern Shore county.

I was wondering about this too and couldn't find much. It looks like Trump got about the same number of raw votes as he did in 2016, and Biden got Clinton's performance, picked up most of the fairly high proportion of 2016 third party votes (5.7%), and maybe benefitted from some population growth in Easton?

The only other thing that I can think of is that a bunch of DC bureaucrats that Trump has alienated over the last four years have vacation homes on the bay in Talbot County, and are registered there rather than in DC.

what's the income level there?  The Trump tax plan screwed blue state UMC voters so I wouldn't be surprised if Republican (non-rural) areas of blue states turned sharply against him.
