Texas was competitive back in 2018 when Beto ran for Senate, and it was almost competitive this year. Although Biden did well in the suburbs of Austin and the DFW area (flipping Williamson County and Tarrant County), he did awful in Southern Texas with the Latino population.
Is there a path for Democrats to be competitive in Texas going forward?

Sure.  Biden just needs to govern effectively for the next four years, and demonstrate that he's not a radical socialist or an open-borders nut.  Even better, he needs to seize on opportunities to talk about his Catholic faith and the religious principles that guide him.  Southern Texans, like rural voters everywhere, have been fed a sick fantasy image of Democrats for years now via Fox News, AM radio, Sinclair Broadcasting, etc.  All that stuff will continue, but Democrats now have a platform to match it.  Govern well and let Texas continue to urbanize and Democrats can win the state in four years (maybe two).

Yes. I think people are overreacting to the 2020 result. Texas still swung D this election and it’s still on track to be competitive in the 2020s. Texas went R by about the same amount Georgia went R in 2016.

Dems still don’t need Texas to win and they should focus more on GA/AZ/NC/the Upper Midwest like they did this time, but if Biden wins re-election by a decent margin I could see Texas being competitive.
