No. Let her stay in the House and gain seniority, maybe a future Senate seat, and then run when her politics becomes more mainstream.

Throwing away a House seat to mount a failed primary challenge to Kamala Harris would be a horrible idea.

But a President AOC would be a nice transition from Christian centrism to Christian socialism. Smile

She would get embarrassed pretty badly in either the primary or the general.

If you think America is going to elect a 35-year-old woman from the Bronx who wants to abolish the police and calls herself a democratic socialist, you are completely out of your mind. She's not popular at all outside of Twitter leftists.

If you really think a factory worker in Wisconsin is going to vote for AOC, you are extremely out of touch and need to go out into the real world.

It doesn't matter if you believe her policies are popular... she's absolutely terrible at messaging. She would get destroyed.

I personally want this to happen, but I dont think she will be very successful at all of she ran in 2024. They successfully painted Joe Biden as a socialist boogeyman, just imagine what they would do against AOC.

A lot of you seem to be REALLY underestimating how hard it is to primary a sitting President. Biden could skip all the primary debates and there'd be nothing she could do about it but fume.

I'd say if Biden isn't running for reelection, and if the DNC doesn't rig the primary, then AOC does have a chance.

AOC is definitely media savvy enough to be a strong presidential candidate, but 2024 is almost certainly too soon. In 2036 or 2040 she'll still be fairly young for a presidential candidate, and shifts in the Overton Window as the generations go by might make her fairly mainstream as well.

Would be great. Hopefully with Ilhan Omar as her running mate as well.

AOC is already too tainted by Republican smears and her self-description as a socialist.
Republicans will "taint" any leftist they can as a socialist, even moreso if they have youth appeal and/or are female and/or are not white. Based on your advice, Democrats can never nominate a leftist candidate because the GOP will definitely convince the public that they are socialists or communists, so don't even try.

Dems are not going to allow the GOP to basically shape their party for them. If (massive massive if) the Democrats want to nominate a leftist, that's what they'll do.

I don't see AOC winning the nomination...she is  already unpopular. I also think she knows 2024 is too early for a presidential run

Would be great. Hopefully with Ilhan Omar as her running mate as well.

Not sure if that would be possible with Ilhan being born in Somalia, I don't think she would count "as a natural born citizen."

She's off to a good start this week, being a sourpuss asshole to everyone for some reason and starting fights with her Congressional colleagues.

She has a much better chance of unseating Schumer or Cuomo in 2022, not that she isn't the underdog in both of those cases. Still, though, Cuomo has proven vulnerable to primaries from the left from weaker candidates than AOC, and it's been one epic fail after another in the Senate with Schumer at the helm.

EDIT: I do wonder, though, who will assume Bernie's mantle in 2024. Seems to me that most of the Democrats prominent enough to run in 2024 who aren't establishment hacks are either quite young or Warren types or both, but it seems increasingly clear that there's more appetite for Bernie-style progressive populism than Warren-style pragmatic progressivism. Tammy Baldwin, Sherrod Brown, and John Fetterman are my best guesses for people who could make a play for this base, although it might end up being no one until 2028 or 2032.
