I guess I am a little surprised by the lack of Republican donors in the the midwest and the northeast.

Imagine if this map foretells the county results.

What would those state maps look like?

How jarringly Seabrook, NH stands out as one of the lone towns on the New England coast where Trump donors outnumber Biden donors. Not surprising but still notable.

My zip code is 82% Biden donors. Seems correct.

Imagine if this map foretells the county results.

I can’t wait for Biden to sweep upstate New York while Trump flips Clark, Bexar, and Miami-Dade! Biden will bring back the white working class while Trump breaks even with Hispanics! #Realignment2020

The map is probably a good estimate of the college-educated white vote in each county but overlooks some key demographics.

The number of donors map is closer to how I’d expect the vote to turn out within metro areas than the dollar amounts map.

Interesting, Biden is winning the donor race in my zip code in Forsyth County, GA by 1,166 to 1,059. If he comes anywhere close to those numbers among the general voter population, GA is gone for Trump.

Nothing inexplicable here, specifically or generally. No secret that the donor class favors Biden heavily.

Maybe light blue Las Vegas is interesting, but (1) the Democrats rely on a lot of low enthusiasm voters there and (2) they've been absolutely devastated by the economic shutdowns, which means fewer people with means to donate.

Light red Marion County, IN is also of note. And Lakewood, NJ is good for a laugh.

Biden has, so far, received 44% of the donations in my blood red zip code.

Clinton got 26% of the vote here in 2016.

The only thing that surprises me is how much Biden is dominating in the upper midwest.  That seems to bode well for him.

Republicans have a long term problem in that the wealthiest states are becoming so overwhelmingly Democratic.  Their fundraising problems aren't limited to this year.

Democrats will always have more voters, but Republicans used to make up for that at least partially by winning UMC voters who donated more and were more consistent in voting.  That advantage is completely gone.  It's not hyperbole to say that the current GOP is screwed in its current form.  The way I see this playing out is that all the Washington Republicans who cozied up to Trump, even the fake "moderates" like Rubio and Sasse are done on the national level.  The party will have to rebuild with actually moderate Governors like Hogan.
