Today marks two years since my grandmother's passing, and I am still as much in grief today as I was then. But things in life are picking up overall.

Kind of a morbid coincidence, but I frequently check the Wikipedia recent deaths page. Under October 23, there was a listing for David Barnes, who at first I thought was the appointed Nebraska US Senator from the late 80s. Then reading on, that guy was listed as a New Zealander sailor. Now a few days later, the page lists David Karnes, who was that Senator, as dying of cancer on October 25.

My grandma broke her hip this weekend after falling down and having an accident

From what I've heard breaking your hip is not the worst operation you can have and she is in pretty good health for her age, but still this sucks a lot. Plus there were no free rooms this weekend so she was basically stranded in the emergencies area before given a "proper" room this morning. I really feel bad for her, going to visit her in an hour and a half or so. (before she was given a room visits were much more limited so it was my mum who went there)

Hoping she recovers easily and swiftly. I think she will be operated tomorrow if I am not mistaken but of course there will be a post-operation period until she is fully recovered.

I'll be praying for your grandma! Broken hips are bad, but she sounds strong, so she'll probably recover even if at a slightly diminished physical capacity. Hope everything goes well with the operation.

Found out today I’m descended from Arabs, apparently 🤔

Me and my wife did one of those DNA tests, 23andMe, and I guess my mother, who is a second generation Italian-American, must actually be an Arab. I was expecting to see at least a good amount of Italian but nah only 2% Italian and 10x that amount between Turkish, Syrian, and Egyptian.

The rest was pretty much England and France which yeah sounds about right. Still shocked about the Middle East stuff tho. Some of u guys follow me on the gram u know how pale I am. Wtf.

This guy and I were getting in the elevator in my building, and he literally turned and blocked me from entering because my mask was on my chin. If he respectfully asked me to pull it up, I would have politely complied. But as soon as he physically blocked me and said "no way buddy", I screamed "finks you" in his face and we, um, had words.

I honestly contemplated punching him in the moments before the elevator door closed, and we were staring at one another like rabid dogs. I'm bipolar, but it really takes a lot to get me this mad. I'm still stewing about it.

I'm just so angry that he'd turn around, puff out his chest, and extend his arms out to block me. All he had to do is say "sorry bud, but can you fix your mask?" It isn't hard to ask, and it'd have taken me ten milliseconds to adjust. Typical f**king New York transplant.

Wait, what Nashville bombing?

Turn on the TV. A car bomb exploded downtown at 6:30 AM. It sounds like police discovered the bomb and evacuated the area, but couldn't disarm it in time. There are a few minor injuries, and the FBI is now taking the lead in the investigation. The whole street is devastated. Every window is broken, cars are on fire, I'm honestly amazed that it didn't reduce the building to rubble.

Edit: The footage looks like Oklahoma City. Left a crater in the street. The explosion sent a huge fireball into the air.

My best friend and his wife are heading towards a divorce. It's a real shame, he had a severe bout of depression and went into the hospital and when he came out, his wife decided to leave him. Definitely weird seeing my friends start to get married, but its even weirder that one couple has already divorced.
