Dems should nominate Ron Kind. he'll lose his house seat anyway.

Johnson appeals to the Neocons in the MKE Suburbs, while Ron Kind has incredible appeal to voters in the western part of the state. Kind could also attack Johnson on being a plutocrat who is out of touch, and run an Obama 2012-Esque campaign in WI. Either way, it'll be tight, and Johnson is a much weaker candidate for a working-class populist state like WI than Trump is, and Trump lost It anyway.

That explains why Ron Johnson won Wisconsin by more than Trump in 2016
Feingold was a loser who ran a poor campaign.

That explains why Feingold did better in the rural areas than Biden or Clinton.

Ron Johnson and trump are completely different animals.

Johnson is a better candidate for the WOW counties and Trump is a better candidate for the rest of the state.

I think he would be an interesting candidate and someone who could actually win.

There's already a megathread where this is being discussed:

If Pocan somehow manages to make this very competitive or is even close to flipping the seat for Democrats, Wisconsin will be the least of Republican worries. I maintain that this will be the most overhyped Senate race of 2022.

Well, Tammy Baldwin is progressive as well. Am I wrong to assume Pocan has similar appeal than her? Wisconsin is kinda weird, as they seem fine to elect conservative Republicans and progressive Democrats. I think the best way to go here is run sort of a #populist candidate.

This is a true sentiment. The state reelected Bob La Follette and six years later voted for Joe McCarthy. La Follette, Feingold, and Baldwin are all part of a long line of progressive Senators from Wisconsin. Pocan would be a fitting addition to that list.

It would be pretty hilarious if Pocan followed the exact route Baldwin went in terms of political career.

Kind is better off trying to hold his House seat (unless redistricting makes it even worse for him).  He’s not winning statewide in a midterm.

I agree, if Baldwin won by 11 points due to being progressive, then Pocan would be a good candidate as well. Although he could have simply been saying that he hopes Johnson is defeated.

It appears that RoJo is blocking stimulus checks, or at least $1200 checks. I expect this will feature prominently in the campaign.

Good grief, Johnson is such cancer. Worst-of-both-worlds fusion of supercharged Trump hackery and classic R-WI Thatcherite heartlessness.

Yeah, denying money to working class families who desperately need it will totally be beneficial to "our children's future", while giving tax cuts to wealthy definitely totally helped reduce the national debt (which "Rojo" seemed so concerned about while Trump was President). How is arguing that there was election fraud without any evidence helping our children again?

Wisconsin, you could've had ten more years of Feingold at this point, but you chose this guy twice, instead. You done messed up, and knowing the timeline we're in, you probably will again in two years.

Am I missing something? I agree that the Democrats' fixation on Russia needs to stop but this seems like more of the same bloviating about muh Hunter Biden and muh irregularities, of which the former is meaningless and the latter is demonstrably fictitious.

The reason why Johnson needs to go WI is populist state and Evers and Baldwin have done a decent job after Paul Ryan left, whom wanted to get rid of Medicaid and create a voucher program. Also, Walker is gone. Tom Nelson will defeat one of the last Conservatives in WI, due to the fact split party Delegations are leaving, in the Senate. The North is voting same party Delegations like the South, 2014 has chas changed that

has johnson been making any rumblings about if he wants to run for re-election/governor?  Blocking relief checks doesn't seem like a good position to take if he wants to run for either. While voters like me might be sympathetic to a "deficit" argument, not only should the relief checks have been the first thing put into the deal, but there are very few voters who care about deficit issues like I do.
