Boston may have working-class Catholics and a communitarian lean, but it is not socially conservative.

Besides, what is your criterea for social liberalism?  Las Vegas, for example, is quite conservative on gay marriage, and probably on a number of other "prudish" issues.

Now, let's take a look at the least prudish states using the Strip Club factor (per capita):

Gee, West Virginia and South Dakota are exactly what I think when I think "socially liberal."

Of course, New Hampshire, Washington, California, and Maine!  Those bastions of social conservativism!  That makes a lot of sense!

Granted, Las Vegas may have legalised prostitution and lots of gambling.  But it isn't a social issue there!  It's an economic one.  In all reality, Nevada's population is mostly blue collar service industry workers - and they are actually rather conservative for the demographics involved.  Calling Las Vegas socially liberal is foolish; calling it economically conservative makes me think you've been watching CSI too much.

Sorry, you are right.  They could not, though; the county population has to be under 400,000.  Clark is currently the only one at that level, although Washoe (Reno) will soon be.

I do hope that BRTD isn't going to seriously argue that the counties in Nevada will legalised prostitution are socially liberal.  Because if they are, they must be damn conservative on everything else.

I don't care about how many strip clubs there are, I've only been to 4 in my life, of those I have been to one only twice and one only once. What matters is regulations, and South Dakota has once that the local prudes are constantly trying to shut down (despite being 3 miles from the nearest town, which has only 300 people). If Seattle is so bothered by their few strip clubs that they  must pass prudish laws to regulate them, they are not socially liberal, they are just like the prudes in the Bible Belt.

Obviously, though, a place with more strip clubs per capita must have more people going to strip clubs.  That indicates that the non-prudish population is lowest in West Virginia!

It makes as much sense as assuming that Seattleites are less interested in house prices and crime rates than they are in regulating strip clubs.  As in, very little.

Besides, don't you think the huge number of other things Seattle is socially liberal on are more important than strip club legislation?  Can you name one single other "prudish" thing Seattle has done?  That is, by the way, the citizens of Seattle, not the city council like the crap you're whining about.

Most people would prefer not to live by a strip club. Simply having a strip club present will bring housing prices down.

I know that you've suggested a "Red Light District" as a solution to this problem. But Seattle doesn't have one and if they wanted to create one where would they put it?

I don't actually live there so I'm not sure, but from what I know this one street in Seattle (near the museum and the market) has a reputation for being sleazy and does have a couple strip clubs. Of course this is prime land and has begun transforming into a street full of luxury high-rise condos already.
