Hello and welcome to Philadelphia, PA. and the start of the ILP convention.

The first item on the agenda is nominations and voting for our leadership positions, Chairman, Secretary, and Deputy Secretary.  There will be 72 hours for nominations and after, we will vote.

After that, we will consider changes to our platform and standing rules.  The last thing we shall do will be endorsements.  Candidates for office shall feel free to address the convention at any time.

One thing I hope this convention will accomplish is to outline a future for our party.  I hope that we can return the ILP to past glory.

One last thing.  This is a only a game so lets have fun, enjoy ourselves and make this the best convention ever Smiley

Am I allowed to call for a change to the "standing rules" at this point?

If anyone wants to call for a change to the platform, they can do so.  Also, candidates for various races should remember that they are free to address the convention.

Because of this, I am announcing that we will postpone our election of these posistions.

I will say that although I support eliminating these positions since no one ever wants one, I do believe there should still be at least one other leadership position.  That way, one person doesnt have full control over the party.

Mister Chairman, I move that the plank on Puerto Rican Statehood be struck from the platform as an achieved goal.

Tomorrow, we will vote on the proposed rule changes.  If we eliminate the positions of Secretary and Deputy Secretary, I believe we should create the position of Vice Chairman.

A few notes to my fellow ILP members

1. Endorsement Voting is now open till not this but the following Sunday.

2.  I will be out of town for the next week with no computer.  If anyone wants to propose changes to the rules or platform during that time, they may still do so.

Address to the ILP Convention:

Greeting ILP members.  I am here today to speak to you about my candidacy for the Senate from the Northeast Region.  I know that I am quite a bit farther left than many of you here.  This may be a concern to some of you, especially since I have been very vocal in my opinions and angered or annoyed others with my arguments.  I do apologize for times where I have gone over the line and apologize to those I've offended.  However, I think the fact that I do consistently voice my opinion on every pressing topic in Atlasia in order to be more civic minded.  I've been far more active than my one opponent who only posts in one board in Atlasia (his own campaign thread) and has a daily posting rate of less than 1.

I do hope I can receive this party's support and am open to any questions.

May I take this opportunity to thank the Independent Liberal Party for endorsing my Senate re-election bid back in April Smiley

I would like to thank the Independent Liberal Party for allowing me to speak at it’s fine convention and take this opportunity to address its members regarding my campaign for senate.

I am running against a strong opponent in Jake, he has experience and a good sized following. However, I have decided not to try an cut him at the knees by pointing out his history of racist remarks and political under handing. No, I am going to run a clean campaign and try to let you in on who I am.

Most people will tell you that I lack the experience to be an effective senator, that I lack the competency to serve. I say bullsh**t. Yes, it's true that I haven't had the time to build up a questionable senate record convenient for my opposition’s use. It is also true that I have not had a sufficient amount of  time to waste my time. I have no problem admitting that both of these things are true, and I have no problem admitting that both come with experience.

So what makes up for this experience that I lack? I believe that I have a willingness to serve, which is necessary to effective governing. A lack of compassion is all over the place isn’t it? Negativity, slander, and plenty of candidates running simply because they don’t want their opponent to win. These things should not be the basis of our future. We should have a senate full of winners, not full of people who simply didn’t lose. That’s what you, I, and all of us deserve. I offer us a chance to make at least one step in that direction. We can take one more step toward a senate for the people.

With your endorsement, we can start fresh, and secure tomorrow today. I will be a senator for you, but only if you choose to be a voter for me. Thank you and God bless.

I thank the ILP for its support, and will again point out the irony that not all Pacific ILP members endorsed me...in fact, one of them voted against me already. Tongue Love ya too, rocket. Roll Eyes

I would like to greatly thank the ILP for its endorsement even though we share different ideologies. I appreciate it. Smiley
