First off, I think Steve Rogers and Tony Stark are both Republicans, albeit from different wings of the party.

Steve's probably from the libertarian wing of the party (and might get the nomination of the Libertarian Party if he were so inclined).

Stark's probably from the neo-con wing of the party.

So they are more likely to get into a primary battle in a presidential race, not a general election race (unless Steve gets the Libertarian nomination).
