My impression of Del Taco is not that he's anti-fact, he's pro-logic. I don't always agree with his reasoning or positions, but it's very inaccurate to describe him as some brainless cultist.

He is clearly intelligent and has a logical mind, but he rejects data, logic and reason that doesn't align with his pre-determined positions. He's unwilling to be objective about things.
