Someone should ask when Ben Sasse ever voted against anything Donald Trump proposed.

Did he vote for his tax cuts? Did he vote for his judges? Did he vote for his healthcare plan? Did he vote to hold him accountable for his abuses of power?

This is a completely and totally bs talking point, you can oppose Trump like I do but support Trump on taxes, deregulation policies, judges etc. Heck If I were a Senator my "Trumpscore" is probably 85%+ as his policies are not the reason why I oppose him.

And yet unlike Mitt Romney of all people, he was too much of a coward to remove Trump from office when he had the chance, even after the biggest scandal in US presidential history.

Whatever problems Sasse has with Trump, it would be incredibly dumb and petty for him to not vote for a well qualified nominee who fits his judicial philosophy.

He was running for re-election this year, unlike Mitt!

Of course, it always comes down to saving their own asses. Say what you will about Flake or Amash, they literally sacrificed their careers to speak out against Trump. Sasse has long tried to have it both ways. I have much less respect for him.

A man who talks behind somebody's back is not a man. Part of the reason the voters who like Trump like him is because if he had something to say about Sasse, he'd say it very publicly.

I have to agree with this. One cannot lose sight of the fact that many of the Never Trump conservatives and Trump skeptics, while strongly disliking Trump on a personal level-and probably wishing for his defeat next month-are nevertheless conservative Republicans at heart. To be opposed to Trump does not mean that one has to completely change their ideology or change political parties.

However, Sasse has been too much of a coward to do anything against Trump in public. He voted for Kavanaugh, voted to acquit Trump, and voted against witnesses. And now, he's supporting what Republicans are doing with pushing Barrett through-which one can consider an act of hypocrisy, given what happened to Garland. Sasse has sacrificed much less than even Mitt Romney, and he is thus not worthy of too much respect. Nevertheless, I'm sure that he's one of those wishing Trump loses the election-many establishment Republicans are tired of putting up with Trump's nonsense and are willing to endure four years of Joe Biden so that they can get a more reliable and "sensible" President of their party into office down the road.

Democrats should have run a serious candidate in Nebraska. They might have been able to achieve downballot depolarisation above and beyond the normal ceiling for crossover support in that state because of embarrassments like this.

I think Sasse doesn't like DC

He may run for governor in 2022

What about Manchin? He doesn't like Trump that much, he voted to convict him.

And all the others?

He's right, but it's all talk as far as I'm concerned. He's more useless than Susan Collins or Jeff Flake.

Blackburn/Cramer is the way in the Senate GOP, just nod and wink at Trump's foolishness

If Ben Sasse doesn't like the job Trump is doing as president, he had an opportunity last January to vote to replace Trump with Mike Pence and he and every other Republican chose not to.

If he were that concerned about Trump's conduct in office, he could have said, "Mr. President, until things change in the White House, we're not passing any legislation or confirming any judges." He didn't.

How brave, even braver than when he's "concerned" about Trump. It's not like he could hold some of Trump's policies or nominees hostage unless Trump changes his behavior. Nah, nothing wrong with enabling a useful idiot who doesn't care about Democracy to benefit yourself personally as long as you're "concerned" Smiley.

If there were a lefty Democrat Senator in the 90s who had a problem with Clinton, would they have had to oppose RBG's nomination to prove they were sincere?
