I described this character in a previous thread and no one got the demographics exactly right. The 2020 flip should be a hint.

1984: Walter Mondale (D-MN)
1988: George H.W. Bush (R-TX)
1992: Bill Clinton (D-AR)
1996: Bill Clinton (D-AR)
2000: George W. Bush (R-TX)
2004: George W. Bush (R-TX)
2008: John McCain (R-AZ)
2012: Mitt Romney (R-MA)
2016: Abstained
2020: Joe Biden (D-DE)

This is literally my father, except he wasn't old enough to vote in 1980 or 1984, but he didn't like Reagan but liked Bush, but voted for Clinton twice, then Republican 2000-2012. The only difference is he's abstaining again this year because "Biden is bad for business and weak on foreign policy"

I guess it would have to be those Fargo and Grand Forks suburbs that spill over into Minnesota then? It can't be the northeast.

Not a Minnesotan, actually. There's other reasons to vote for Mondale as a young person.

White middle-class suburban NASHVILLE? Otherwise Memphis or Atlanta.
I am also pretty sure this is a female.

Tennessee famously (?) being the only state where Bush '88 did better than Reagan '84.

Yeah, it's one of those weird states. Way more of an ancestral Republican presence going back to the Civil War, which has meant a more moderate state GOP in recent history.

This person is a self-proclaimed proud moderate Republican who was excited for Ferraro as a kid, redoubled her support for the GOP as a new mother after 9/11, and hated Obama for policy reasons but really hates Trump for his personality.
