Unpopular opinion: John Kerry.

Gore should have just conceded the South and focused on New Hampshire and the Midwest. Kerry can give hard-hitting populist speeches when he wants (see his 2004 primary challenge against Dean!) and was an okay fit for Nader voters. Kerry was also against Lieberman and Tipper Gore's moral panic over media so youth turnout would be far better.

Graham would deliver Florida, Kerry or Shaheen would've delivered New Hampshire, Gephardt would've helped in the midwest. Any of them would've been better than Chancellor Palpatine.
