Excluding Joe Lieberman because he was a terrible choice. Also, put your mind-frame back into the year 2000 and not a 2020 lens.

Why didn't you include Bob Graham (which has been mentioned by many as someone who could have put Gore over the top in Florida)?

I went based off of the shortlist I found on Wikipedia. Anyways, I added Bob Graham as one of the options.

Jeanne Shaheen would have been the smart choice.

Jeanne Shaheen, Bob Graham...not on this list, but Mel Carnahan might have flipped Missouri.

Gore-Gephardt.

Gephardt would have kept some progressives from voting Nader, especially with NAFTA.

They would have kept TN and MO, they would not have needed Florida.

Graham was not someone who would be president in 2008....he was aging

Shaheen.

Graham in retrospect, since the man did social media before social media.

Gephardt. The Cave State could have stayed blue a little longer. It wasn't like Missouri was a deep conservative state back then.

By 2000, Democrats hadn't won the Presidency without a sitting Senator or sitting Vice President in the VP slot in 60 years. Based on how close a particular state was, the only choice among those listed is Bob Graham.

I actually wrote in Gore with another Senator that year, Paul Wellstone. Almost any Senate Democrat would have been a better pick than the one Gore made, though.

Bob Graham, as he would have greatly enhanced Gore's chances in EV-rich Florida.

Gore-Gephardt.

I don't think the VP effect would have worked unless Gore showed some willingness to overturn NAFTA. To use an example, Pence only worked as a VP because Trump showed a willingness to advance the ideas that Pence represented (i.e. Christian conservatism).

Maybe Lieberman wasn't that bad as he seemed to boost Gore slightly in Florida. But Graham would have been better at that and is just better all around, so he probably should have been the pick.

Bob Graham because Gore would win the election.

Gephardt is my personal favorite, but in terms of who he should have picked to win, Bob Graham.

Gephardt. Gore would've had a chance to win MO, making FL irrelevant.

I agree, seeing the posts now, that Gephardt would be a decent pick, but Graham would still be better in my eyes.

Anyone else might probably have been enough, except that slimy weasel Evan Bayh.

Could anyone have saved West Virginia for the Dems in a last hurrah? Bob Wise?

Of the options of the list, Gephardt would've been the best
