This is worrying

The NYP is reporting that a 52 year old man is in the icu with covid19 35 DAYS after getting the JJ vaccine

Johnson and Johnson trial studies didn’t have a SINGLE person hospitalized with covid after 28 days

Looks like the JJ study was wrong or faulty

Cases seem to be ticking up in the U.K.

Not totally unexpected as things reopen and the India variant spreads

Numbers still low in raw terms

So you first found people having Covid as funny, with your title stating "LMAO."
What made you change your mind, to alter it to "Yikes"?

Because it is funny, sorry. They are all fully vaccinated. They’ll be fine

It’s just this whole stunt has blown up in their faces

Numerous Twitter personalities are laughing about it.

I have a confession to make

I vastly overestimated how many Americans have had covid

I assumed that maybe 30-45% of Americans had it by March 2021, and, combined with vaccines, we would be at 80-85% immunity by now.

It’s obvious seeing the case rates rise that we were never close to 45% infected

I find it interesting that posters on here are going hard against sturgis, but were utterly silent about lollapalooza

Some good news

The reproduction rate has fallen below 1 in Arkansas and Missouri, and is on the cusp of falling below 1 in Louisiana.

We’re about to see a decline in cases there

On the other hand, R(t) is increasing in the Midwest and northeast.

This is a nightmare

Cases in the UK are going back up yet again

Covid is proving to be the most stubborn virus the world has EVER seen

In 1918, despite how primitive our medical technology was, the flu pandemic was gone in like 1.5 years

The world will be dealing with covid for years and years

A nightmare

We need to stop trying to eradicate it. The goal at this point is vaccines that turn it into a sinus infection

This is awful

Absolutely insane

Louisiana’s R(t) is at a pandemic low of 0.64

Not only a record low for the state, but the lowest R(t) recorded anywhere in America since early days

Is Louisiana hitting herd immunity?

What on earth is going on in Hawaii?

Very good vax rate, populated by cautious Asians.

Hospitalizations soaring daily to new records

Hospitalizations in Louisiana fell by 111

Good news

I'm happy that my home state is finally getting some great news on covid because things has been getting really bad down here. Over the past few days I have lost friends and family member to this damn virus. even my next door neighbor sadly lost her life to covid

So I'm glad there is at least some light at the end of the tunnel and thanks Matty for sharing this awesome news

Sadly it appears Louisiana is getting to the point where it reached herd immunity the hard way

1) terrible first wave at same time as NY
2) awful summer wave 2020
3) awful winter
4) awful summer 2021

I am 100% pro vax, but can someone explain why so many companies requiring the shot aren't making exceptions for those who can prove they were infected already?

natural antibodies do the same thing as the vaccines.

why aren't companies going with the "proof of vaccine or proof of prior infection" standard?

Man, the only blue states on that list are Hawai'i and Oregon (unless you want to call Georgia a blue state now).

It really is just Republicans killing themselves left and right.  At some point you have to wonder whether COVID will end up being enough to swing the FL gubernatorial election simply because DeSantis will have killed tens of thousands of his own voters.

Florida has a higher vaccination rate than numerous blue states and even NYC, and is above the national avg in % of population vaccinated.

90%+ of deaths in florida are among the unvaccinated. I will NEVER blame a governor (no matter what party) for the death of someone who refused a life-saving vaccine.

Some of you need to learn the concept of personal responsibility.

If you die of covid because you didn't get the vaccine even though you could walk into any grocery store or pharmacy to get it as a same day walk in appointment, that's your fault, not your elected officials' fault.

BTW, numerous states north of the mason dixon line are top 5 right now for % growth in covid cases.

The state of Washington is seeing their worst covid surge yet, and hospitalizations have soared to a record high, especially in Spokane and king county

Vermont has reached the highest number of new daily cases than at anytime since the pandemic began.

It’s incredible

We can see in real time the virus shift north as the season changes

Just like last year.

Luckily the vax rate will help mitigate deaths.

I just don't see how we will ever have another bad surge.

Delta basically infected most people who were unvaccinated.

90% of americans have either natural or vaccine antibodies.

I just don't see the math working out for another surge.

maybe a surge of breakthrough, mild cases.

IF it is indeed true that omicron is a mild version of covid that is also very contagious, we need to actively encourage its spread. It would essentially be nature providing us with a free vaccine

Govts should “bomb” entire third world cities and regions with omicron droplets to get as many people infected to commence mass immunity

This is fantastic news out of Suid Afrika

Also, I read somewhere that the hospitalization increase is an artifact of the fact that South Africa is finally allowing Afrikaners to get hospital treatment for covid.
