here is something from The Verge (whatever that is) for those that are a little behind

Biden want's to get rid of it, Trump wants to do it too.  Section 230 protects entities that provide a platform for others from being sued for things posted by users of the platform.  Basically, it protects Dave Leip from lawsuits against things posted at Talk Elections by me and you.  I understand why Biden and many red avatars will support the repeal, you all want to censor views you disagree with and don't mind breaking sh**t to get it done.  I'm not sure why Trump thinks he wants it repealed.

no but i can see the the supporters' reasoning that content hosters should play a more active role in 'curating' content

Absolutely not. Do either candidates have a plan to replace it with something else?

That sounds like an argument in favor.

Wtf no, that sounds like a horrible idea. Dave (or Virginia) should not be liable at all for what users post here; or at the absolute least the burden of proof should be extremely high

What is it with governments and passing dumb internet laws? First net neutrality, then that dumb EU copyright law and now this?

The people in government are generally old Luddite boomers with little to no experience with the technologies they attempt to regulate. To compensate for their ignorance, they seek input from copyright lawyers and content creators who have a vested interest in making the internet a miserable experience for all of us.

No.  As much as I (and the populist right) want to put Big Tech in their place for their partisan censorship and by extension-the subversion of democracy, repealing 230 is the wrong way to go about it and it will create more unintended consequences than actual benefits.

No, it shouldn't, this is another way to promote collectivism by shifting blame from individuals to platforms. Each person is responsible for what they say, and no one else is responsible for the opinions of others.
Also, coming after platforms would be a direct attack on free speech.
