My brain has melted after reading these last 3 pages. I swear folks' only exposure to young people has been on the news. They think everyone under 35 is a dude-bro who just wants to party at spring break, play beer pong, eat Tide pods, watch UFC and who find mask-wearing 'hella uncool'.

No surprise that those the same people paintbrushing young people are those who said Trump will win if COVID disappeared from the news are now proclaiming not only Trump's impending reelection but a newfound domination with young voters (One of his solidly worst groups) after CATCHING COVID AND BEING AN ACTIVE SPREADER!

Hacks, plain and simple. Not even doomers, because that would imply they don't want Trump to win.

Eat Pide Tods?!?

I once ate a tide pod. It goes downhill fast after the first few seconds.

Why?!

I was a dumb child.

You're not going to convince me that there isn't a substantial fraction of the 18-22 year group like this. We've all been to college. It's obvious why colleges instantly became COVID hotspots when they allowed students back on campus, and we saw in Spring Break 2020 Florida's beaches were packed with this age group who thought "If I get corona, I get corona."

For the 23-35 age group, I'd say that you have a better point. Generally the college partiers will grow out of their ways especially if their workplace doesn't really tolerate that kind of culture.

You really don’t understand just how much Gen Z hates Trump, do you?

That has nothing to do with what I said, the poster I responded to basically said that the "dude-bros" are a small portion of the 18-35 population, and that's just not true, particularly 18-22. It's reasonable that this age group hates Trump so much that even if he guaranteed them free keggers every weekend for life, they would still vote against him.

Issue is that a lot of us also hate Biden just as much. A lot of us just want to blow up the system if I'm being honest.
Partially true, but most have come to terms with Biden because they understand that being a purist cost us 2016. Hence why Settle for Biden is a popular slogan.
It will be interesting to see if Gen Z just become glorified millennials, or if they end up completely different.

For the better or for the worse, a lot of us are very pure in our political beliefs, and aren't willing to change once we're locked into a certain ideology. There also seem to be quite a bit of Gen-zers who are like Romney or Murkowski but slightly more liberal (think Kyrsten Sinema) in terms of their ideology.

I think that’s all younger people regardless of time period. As you grow older, you become more flexible imo.

I'm 21 (born in '99). I consider myself a Late Millennial or Zillennial (combination of Gen Z & Millennial) rather than straight-up Gen Z.

Delineated, named generations were made up by Madison Avenue to sell soda pop and Buicks; however, my experience of college-aged voters, having been one a couple of cycles ago and still knowing many today, is that they're ideologically idiosyncratic and extremely averse to compromise or tactical voting but also low-propensity enough that those features only make a difference at the margins.

I was talking about undecided and soft Biden supporting young people, not generation z as a whole. But I do think the most resistance to mask wearing comes from those ages 25-40

Young people definitely are more cavalier about the virus than old people (extremely-online Millennial stereotypes of evil death-worshiping boomers and haircut-craving Karens notwithstanding), but we're also a lot less likely to view the virus as an ideologized culture war issue that we might change our vote over a candidate's messaging on.

Look at all of the people who still go to clubs and stuff packed into a dancefloor with lots of others. Of course we see that, but a lot of people, especially in America, have no regards for their neighbors. And not all of them are Trump supporters. But rhetoric like this appeals to those people, they want "positive vibes only" and don't want to be reminded of the virus.

I'm sure that an introvert, full of negative energy (that constantly worries about a Biden +20 lead being good for Trump) person like yourself, certainly has his finger on the pulse on what extroverted, "positive vibes" young americans feel. Tell us more.

When your government is stagnant for 30-40 years, wallowing in Hoover-era Republicanism, where government is paralyzed and not serving the needs of the people, it tends to make one radical.

My predictions were virtually spot on four years ago while many thought Hillary was going to win North Carolina and even Texas. I don't really use math when I make my predictions but my gut feeling is usually right about this stuff.

How did midterms go for you again?

Yes, like how Kanye West took 5 points from Biden and Trump got a 5 point bump from his executive orders...and another 5 point sympathy bump.

The drip-drip-drip of new cases each day reminds me of the way the DNC hacked emails were leaked. This is extremely damaging to the Trump campaign; with each case it's a reminder of how reckless his administration has been.

This is why the pandemic is so much more dangerous to Trump politically than any of his controversies in 2016. That year, every single insane news story about him would be irrelevant in a week or two due to some completely unrelated, equally insane news story. There was no narrative to build upon. With the pandemic, it's the same news story, over and over and over and over and over again.

Yep. And the final blow to him is that in the final month of his campaign, every single person in his circle gets infected and each case is a front-page story. It's devastating for him.

There are legitimate reasons why presidents conceal their illnesses with both domestic and foreign implications. There is also historic precedent where presidents are not being transparent with the health.

FDR, for example, hid both his polio and the fact that he was literally dying as he sought his fourth term.

People really need to stop their blind rage at Trump. It’s tiring.

He hid it because stigma associated with being disabled (that still exists today) and not wanting to show weakness during a war that the enemy could take advantage of.

COVID is not sentient so that's not an issue and FDR didn't hide or downplay his polio during a national polio pandemic that was actively killing people, so this comparison is a weak attempt at whataboutism.
