I also liked when Biden said that Trump has only been to the suburbs on his way to the golf course ... Wink

Trump's soundbite on Obama leaving judicial vacancies is going to be excellent fuel for the anti-incrementalist tendency within the Democratic Party.

More results from CNN (Biden/Trump)

Who has better plans? - 63/30
Who reassured you about their candidacy? - 59/(missed this one, but pretty sure it was in the 30s)
Who appeared as a stronger leader? - 55/43

More like to vote for:
Biden 32%
Trump 11%
Neither 57%

That's telling.

Thats typical.

The Frank Luntz panel and flash polls are pretty spot on.  I switched to CNN to check out reactions from their panel, and the fact that only one person raised their hand for Biden to me is a smashing victory.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WI3X7CAlJE

People are at a loss for words right now in my circle of friends, social media, and discord.  Some people have definitely switched to Trump, and many find themselves hanging on the fence.   I went to a watch party with a lot of Trump supporters, and surprisingly, they thought he fought to a draw, but the independents and one Democrat actually felt like Trump won cause he spoke to their concerns.   The reason I think this was Trump's best performance is cause Biden sunk to Trump's level, and Trump improved to a point where he legitimately sounded more put together than Biden.

You got also remember that Trump has been portrayed as a liar, moron, race-baiter and fascist without policies or substance, and people just saw a Joe Biden go out on that stage and embody these characteristics.  He would call Trump a liar numerous times, and then he would confirm Trump's allegations (i.e. the Bernie-Biden pact).   Saying that the goal post for Biden is that he doesn't have dementia did nothing to diminish the fact that Trump has improved since four years ago.  So what if he interrupted the moderator?  He actually spoke about reduced drug prices, remedies to tackle the wildfires, the criminal reform act, moved towards the left on environmentalism.

Cool story bro!

Biden addressed the issues, talked to the American people, stayed calm, and, not only held his ground, but he put Trump on the defensive.

Do you still think Joe Biden has dementia, Trump supporters?

No one could watch this debate and still genuinely believe Biden has dementia. Anyone arguing that talking point is no longer arguing in good faith.

They weren't arguing in good faith to begin with

Yeah, Trump's chances probably down to 10% at this point.

Thanks, Trump.

Remember, if you support Trump, you are a literal Nazi supporter. The facade is gone.

I don't think Biden caught that.
I was immediately going crazy when trump said/ordered the Proud Boys to "stand by."
On Nov 4/5th expect trump to go on national TV, and in code, tell the Proud Boys to "Execute Order 66" or something.
What a mess of an Orange Fascist Bast**d.

That was one of the least bad gaffes.  Biden had some weird fascist moments in that debate, and including his demand that "he was the Democrat Party". my entire watch party started to looking around at each other like, "Did he just say that?"   That gave me flashbacks to a Napoleon statement where he said, "I am the French Revolution."

People worried about fascism supporting Trump and worried about Biden.

Now I've seen it all. A new low in bad faith posting. ( for at least 10 minutes until Redban posts again)

Uh are people misreading that flash poll? 57% neither is just everyone who is already dug in and nothing was going to change their opinion for better or for worse. I'm still voting for Biden of course and I probably would've said neither, because while I think Biden did good, Trump made it a disaster, so this did nothing to change my view.

A whole lot of both sides-ism going on in the media today. Expected and predictable but frustrating nonetheless. Trump is the sole cause of why it was a sh*t show yet we have tons of headlines about "CHAOS IN CLEVELAND" as if both sides played an equal role

Unpopular opinion but debate moderators should have the power to cut off the candidates’ microphones if they do any of the following:

1. Grossly exceed the time limit for a question
2. Openly refuse to answer a question and talk about something completely unrelated instead
3. Interrupt the other candidate

Count me as one of them. After tonight, I highly doubt that I am going to watch any of the remaining debates. I may still watch the VP debate though.

Cut the mics during the 2 minute answers. During the open discussion, leave them on. If after a few admonishments they keep interrupting, then cut them then too and let the moderator direct who speaks when in those discussions. For the townhall, cut the other guy's mic during the question and rebuttal/response.

AIUI, the commission's rules only allow the moderator to have the ability to cut mics if both campaigns agreed to it.  Trump, at least, would never agree to it.

If you support Trump, you support explicitly expressly violent white supremacists.

If you support Trump, you support explicitly expressly violent white supremacists.

Trump, Aug. 14, 2017: Racism is evil. And those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.

Trump, Aug. 15, 2017: I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally.

Racism is evil': Trump condemns white supremacist groups after deadly protest in Charlottesville

https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=emb_title&v=0qD47QFFkTU

Joe Biden Describes White Supremacists As Many "Fine People"

https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=emb_title&v=Nkbj1UgChAY

The right believes that Trump's Charlottesville comments were a "hoax" and the left thinks that they are emblematic of his very "problematic" (to put it mildly) views on racial issues. This is yet another reason why voters are so polarized and so fixed in their support for the two candidates.

The clearest signs that you know Trump lost is when his supporters play the blame the moderator game
