So Trump is wasting his time flying up to North Carolina to do a rally -- which will convince zero people to vote for him and probably spread COVID among his support base -- while Biden is spending the whole day debate prepping.

I'm very much OK with this.  I wish the Biden campaign would call me to help with the debate prep.  But he's risen to the occasion for previous debates so I'm sure he'll do well with this one.  Hopefully his team is taking it very seriously as the strategy for prepping Biden should be fairly obvious.  You can literally look at Trump's hand and see all the cards he's going to play.  He re-uses the same talking points again and again and again and in some cases, for a particular issue, he only has 2-3 talking points.  And most of his talking points come from Fox News so you can just watch Fox, write down what they say, and figure out devastating counter-arguments, and know that you'll get to use them on Trump and he won't have a good response.

Biden should forget about TX and campaign more in MN and MI.

Michael Moore says they don't even have a field office in MI.

Honestly, I would've agreed with you a few months ago, but at this point I am just done with seeing presidents on tv. Not sure how the electorate more broadly feels, my guess is they are all locked in already anyway.

Where does Biden have field offices? I though he never had any field officer anywhere

He said yesterday that he is debate prepping today. This is not uncommon. But pundits and journalists on Twitter are certainly trying to make it an issue b/c they need something on Biden to complain about to balance the scales.

No, it’s an issue because -

The Democratic ticket’s light schedule stands in stark contrast to the frenzied campaigning of Trump 2020, with the president flying to Charlotte, North Carolina, to deliver remarks on his health care plan before traveling to Jacksonville, Florida, for one of his signature rallies at 7 p.m.

If it were the other way around, don’t act like you wouldn’t be calling out Trump for taking so many days off

The debates are going to matter a whole lot more than an extra rally or appearance or two

Well anecdotally I can only talk about Philadelphia, where I am, but his headquarters is here, and it's active because Kamala just visited there last week

There's still plenty of blue avatars who don't do concern trolling, and plenty of trolls who aren't blue avatars (a certain tan avatar comes to mind).

Not to mention, the only reason Trump is even able to run a "frenzied campaign" in contrast to Biden is because Trump literally doesn't give a sh*t about debate prep & has seemingly not engaged in a second of it.

He's preparing for a debate that will most likely be watched by close to 100 million people and that will dominate the news cycle. Clips will be shared with tens, if not hundreds of millions on social media... sounds a bit more important than visiting a few hundred people on the ground

A central pillar to Biden's whole presidential campaign appears to be letting Trump do his own thing and pray that he (hopefully) self-destruct in the process

Never should've been a "central pillar."

Biden has no real campaign slogan, no transformative policy. Just a return to normalcy and "I'm not Trump." It may be enough. But it will not lead to anything beyond a modest win.

Poll came out recently that showed an overwhelming majority of Americans, especially older Americans, want nothing more in our politics than for everyone and everything to calm the f—k down. People aren’t looking for “transformative policy” right now. A “return to normalcy” is exactly what people are craving. Just ask Warren Harding, who won a massive (bigger than expected) landslide precisely 100 years ago on just that slogan, how effective that message can be at the right time.

Democrats want a president who will actually carry out his constitutional duties professionally and ethically.

You all just want a carnival barker who puts on a three ring circus for you. That's what all the rallies are about. You just want to be entertained.

Maybe Trump should be spending more time doing debate prep like Biden's doing?

Yes, it is concerning. I mean if he loses everyone will say "how could this happen?". Try to run a reasonable campaign before the election... otherwise it's an insult to the American people.

if he stays inside and doesnt do much and let trump keep the media that helps the narrative stay on trump and not focus on biden - in 2016 when the media focused on hillary it benefited trump.

Biden calls a lid day again!

The BIDEN campaign called a lid at 9:51 a.m., according to pooler Lauren Gambino of The Guardian.

Why does he keep doing this?

ITT: 2 pages of people explaining that he actually has to, y'know, prep for the debate.

Um, probably because there's a debate tomorrow?

If you do a rudimentary cost-benefit analysis, you will probably conclude that using today to prep for the debate that ~75 million people will watch is more beneficial to Biden than hosting a round-table in Wisconsin or Michigan that something like two dozen people will be allowed to attend because of COVID, even if you factor in the like 10K people that'll watch it via stream.

Republicans in this thread are just mad that Biden's gameplan is working and is about to put him in the White House.

He called a lid 10x this month alone. He need all those days just for debate prep?

If you're engaging in good faith, you will recognize that some of those days were filled with virtual events and fundraisers.

In the days leading up to the 1960 Presidential Debate, Nixon campaigned furiously.
JFK took a few days by the pool, with his family and his debate notes.

Nixon came off as tired and curmungenly in the debate, while JFK batted away concerns about his candidacy, and strengthened his chances.

I'm not about to lose my head over Biden taking a few days to prepare. Given how different this year has become, thanks to COVID, there's a good chance that the debates will become more important than ever. I'd take a good debate performance over a couple of interviews/speeches anyday.
