What is it with you and Sesame Street?

The guy's name is ERNIE Fletcher.

And there's a Muppet on 'Sesame Street' named ERNIE.

Get it?

Uh, yes, obviously.  But you keep bringing up at every opportunity lately.  Ernie is the 560th most common name in the U.S., Ernest is 86th, and Earnest is the 380th.  Like 1-in-225 people are named Ernie, if not more because it used to be more common. (placesnamed.com, by the way)

It's just that you've referenced it weirdly often.

Sadly, Big Bird is only the 1,256th most common name, just ahead of Xavier Muhammed.

I think Fletcher won't run for re-election to save the GOP even if he survives this.

I can only hope he does. Smiley

Why can't something like this happen to my governor?

Seriously, though, it looks like we may pick up Kentucky in '07!

About a month ago, when the Fletcher patronage scandal was hardly ever mentioned in the news at all, a poll showed Fletcher running only even with Steve Henry, who is about the weakest of any major Democrat who might run against Fletcher. Henry has had plenty of problems of his own, and still he was tied with Fletcher.

If the Democrats nominate Greg Stumbo (which they very well may), Fletcher will get absolutely, utterly demolished.

All liberals have been saying they'll win every seat lately, it won't come true.

Fletcher is, if I recall correctly, the very first Republican governor of Kentucky.  I can't imagine that this stuff is going to reflect very well on them for their trial run in the governor's mansion.

If Fletcher is the Republican candidate for governor in 2007, I would not exactly call it a stretch to say that Kentucky would at least be in play.

He was the first since segregationist Louie Nunn in 1967, I think.

Oh, I heard somewhere that he was the first ever.

Well, he was the first in a long time, at least.

I hope Fletcher isn't the nominee next year. There was a time when he looked like a promising figure but that time is long gone. If he's the nominee, count this as a seat the GOP will likely lose especially if someone like Chandler runs again.
