The Democrats are constantly trying to moderate themselves, and as a result, they are losing support from true liberals. A lot of real liberals still vote Democrat, but don't truly believe in the party. I can't even count how many people I know who will vote Kerry, but who actually prefer the Greens.
In 25 years, the Democrats will be a third party, and it will be the Republicans and the Greens. Dems know they can't win if they run to the left, but have no sould if they run to the center. They chose to run for the center, but with no soul, they will lose their supporters.
