Do you think that Dem. and Reps parties will become third partys?? And two new parties will become the new main parties??? I think so maybe even in the next 20 to 40 years...



Not in the foreseeable future, I don't think. Ross Perot started things in that direction, and it fizzled. Both parties will make sure it doesn't happen. Now there's a chance a third party could come along and possibly rival them.

Well like PBrunsel said a issue will split one or both of the parties..

It would take a tremendous issue, of the magnitude of slavery, to split either party and allow a third party to replace one. The electoral system in the US almost demands that there be two national electoral parties made of broad coalitions.

The real question should be "What issue in the next 20-40 years will split a party in a way to allow a third party to rise and replace it?"
