I would say that Massachusetts doesn't qualify, but compared to most state GOPs, it probably does.

Besides its nominees for governor, the MAGOP has had some fairly weird candidates. Shiva Ayyadurai is the most recent who comes to mind, but they last flipped a governor's council seat by running one Oliver Cippolini against a Democratic nominee who was his younger brother. Both endorsed each other and traded places after competing in successive elections.

Texas has a very hardline GOP that was moderate on immigration in the 2000’s, but not so much now.

Sane: New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Vermont, Massachusetts, South Carolina (surprisingly one of the sanest in the south)

Craziest: North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, South Dakota, Mississippi, Wisconsin
