Let's see if 87 year old Sheldon Adelson and 92 year old Bernie Marcus will be there for the GOP in 2024.

What?? Trump was given a bunch of money and wasted it??

I refuse to believe that, there is absolutely no precedent for that

Were Dems expecting this last year? I remember reading plenty of think pieces on Trump's vaunted fundraising game and that he would command a financial lead for the election, but I am not sure if I am mistaken/inventing that

You're not mistaken. This was a fear ever since 2017.

That's one of the reason's Trump filed paperwork for re-election right after his inauguration - so they could get a head-start on fundraising and build an insurmountable cash lead.

This is also why he's going to file paperwork for 2024 not long after he loses. He gets to raise more money from his useful idiots for a couple of years, decide not to run, and then disburse the money to sketchy LLCs that are ultimately owned by his family and various political retainers.

These are mock predictions,  just because we predict an outcome doesnt bode it to be true, either if you support Biden or Trump. It's the same as a mock jury trial

Trump can still win by getting a bump on the Amy Coney Barrett nomination.  Zeroing in on amnesty for illegals that Ds support in the debate in a Time like Covid

What is that financial advantage likely to get Biden for the next 45 days?  Just more ads in more states than Trump or can this money be used to have a tangible impact on the ground.  With the SCOTUS war I think there's going to be less persuadable voters than ever so he really needs to use that money to turn out voters.  I'm a little worried the money might be rolling in too late to have a plan to do that.

The outrageous catering/hotel/travel costs are exactly why I hope the GOP moves beyond Trump in '24 and going forward.

One of the things that annoys me about people like Sheldon Adelson is how ignorant they are of the privilege that is inherent in their "I pulled myself up by my bootstraps" conceptions of themselves.

Quote
He started his business career at the age of 12, when he borrowed $200 from his uncle (or $2,740 in 2017 dollars) and purchased a license to sell newspapers in Boston.[15] Aged 16 in 1948, he then borrowed $10,000 (or $102,349 in 2017 dollars) from his uncle to start a candy-vending-machine business.[16]

"What are you complaining about? Just borrow $100K from your uncle, you lazy moocher!"
