FF. While I didn't agree with all of Ginsburg's opinions, I found her to be an intelligent, serious, and substantive Justice who overcame numerous obstacles in her personal life-not least her constant health struggles-who had a genuine interest in the law, and who sought to advance this country's democratic principles. She garnered great respect from her colleagues on the Court, and from within the judiciary, and her friendship with her ideological opposite, Justice Scalia, is of particular note. Her demise at this juncture is very unfortunate, and will now open us up to a monumental partisan battle that will have negative implications for the Court she long served on.
