I still feel like a Collin Peterson type is the best bet for Iowa democrats going forward

Why, after decades of being represented by Tom Harkin, do we need a Collin Peterson-esque DINO to win in Iowa? The most important factor for winning elections in this state is likeability, not ideology.

That's very true in many places. Ohio in particular with Sherrod Brown, who is among the most progressive Senators.

the political trends in Iowa aren't too good. You have some counties where the dems have done well - Polk, Black Hawk, Scott, Johnson, Linn (maybe Dallas in the future) but all those combined aren't a majority of the electorate.
