I translate a paragraph from an article in french.

Quote
What the United States needs is a revision - highly unlikely - of its Constitution, a refoundation, a second republic. France is in its fifth.

None of the colonies were around under Elizabeth I of England, and while she acted like one, Elizabeth Taylor was never an actual queen, so even if we accepted the last monarch of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha as our monarch, she'd be Elizabeth I here.

A new constitutional convention would be a disaster and would probably end with some ghoulish right-wing disaster like when Pinochet presented a new constitution for Chile.

It would make it more or less impossible for the federal government to do anything and give the rural-est, whitest 25% of the country veto power over anything and everything.
