me and my wife have a long running "argument" concerning this "penis music".  I say a song can be "catchy" (an ear worm) but not good and a good song might not be catchy.  She argues that if a song gets stuck in your head, it must be "good".


she's probably right....she's right about everything else (even when she's not) Smiley




"Stacy's Mom" is fine, neither "good" nor particularly "catchy", but not bad either.

I have a distinct hatred of "Stacy's Mom" because when that song was popular when I was in middle school everyone would change the name of the song to my name and sing it about my mom. I'm sorry that Schlesinger died though.

Another fun fact: I've been to the actual Fountains of Wayne store that the band named themselves after. My dad bought the waterfall for our backyard pond there in Wayne, New Jersey.

Oh, and the most recent example of "penis music" to me is that f***ing "Dance Monkey" song. I hate it, but it is one of the most insidious ear-worms I have ever heard.

It's got a good chord and melody structure, though the verses are pretty simple. The verses are also the weak point lyrically. I would have to say that it's a good song, NOT penis music. Doesn't make me want to dance though.

Yup. "Valley Winter Song", "Mexican Wine", "Someone to Love", "All Kinds of Time" etc will always be bangers. Such an underrated band.
