Kudos to Scott who initially introduced this bill in the South prior to reset...original bill (with links to debate thread) is here: https://talkelections.org/AFEWIKI/index.php/Financial_Education_Act_of_2013

This bill would include a requirement to add in financial literacy education - it is important for all students, regardless of what they decide to do in the future. If I had a dollar for every time I've heard someone (or thought myself) about how unprepared I was for adult life and figuring out how to manage money. These skills are important to better prepare our students for success after schooling.

I support this common sense bill. Understanding basic finance is an important life skill for any student to learn.

Based on the feedback so far, I motion to wave the 48 hour debate requirement and proceed to a final vote. 24 hours for objections to the motion.

With no objections, the 48 hour debate requirement has been waived. We will now proceed to a final vote, please vote AYE, NAY or ABSTAIN.
