I know that people have already asked how Clinton would have fared in reelection many times, but I thought that it would be interesting to reintroduce this question given the riots going on right now. Everything happening right now, 180k+ coronavirus deaths, high unemployment, riots, is happening in this alternate timeline.

Clinton would have been a heavy underdog in pretty much any reelection scenario, but introducing COVID-19 would have made things even worse.

Senator Tom Cotton/Senator Joni Ernst 55% 363 Electoral Votes
President Hillary Clinton/Vice President Tim Kaine 43% 175 Electoral Votes

Yeah, that would have been a trainwreck with 60+ Republican Senators afterwards for sure.

She'd likely lose. Of course, she'd undoubtedly be handling everything much better than Trump has, but this is Hillary Clinton we're talking about here, so no matter what, she would've been unpopular & there'd be exponentially more Republican opposition to anything & everything she'd be doing.

Hot take: She wins reelection due to strong Covid handling. Most countrys with female heads of state have done pretty well. And Cotton isn't really a strong candidate. I think he's weaker as a candidate than Mitt was in 2012.

However, another hot take: If 2016 ended up with the 278 freiwall, I could easily see Trump running again or essentially never stop campaigning and become the nominee for a second time. The Republicans are that idiotic.

✓ President Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY)/Vice President Timothy M. Kaine (D-VA): 291 EV. (50.41%)
Senator Thomas Cotton (R-AR)/Senator Dean Heller (R-NV): 247 EV. (47.85%)
